Touchstone is an innovative four-level series for adults and young adults, taking students from beginning to intermediate levels (CEFR: A1–B1).

Based on research into the Cambridge English Corpus, Touchstone teaches English as it’s really used.

Touchstone presents natural language in authentic contexts, and explicitly develops conversation strategies so learners speak with fluency and confidence.

 

The Passages, Third Edition, Student’s Books have been updated to offer fresh, contemporary content, relevant speaking and listening activities, comprehensive grammar and vocabulary support, enhanced reading skills development, and a step-by-step academic writing strand. The Student’s Book with Online Workbook package offers an economical way to provide interactive skills practice, extra listening exercises, helpful progress monitoring tools, and instant feedback. Access to the Online Workbook is provided through an access code printed on a separate card that is shrink-wrapped with the Student’s Book.

 

 

Viewpoint is a two-level series in American English for adults and young adults, taking learners from a high intermediate to advanced level of proficiency (CEFR: B2 – C1). Viewpoint follows on from the Touchstone series, a four-level series that takes students from beginner to intermediate levels (CEFR: A1 – B1), written by the same author team. Together, the six-level series takes students from CEFR A1 – C1.

Easy and enjoyable to teach, Viewpoint is full of new and exciting ideas, offering a fresh approach to the teaching and learning of English.

Cambridge English: First ( FCE)

Difficulty level: B2 /Upper Intermediate
The First Certificate in English is the most important of the Cambridge exams.

What is the Cambridge First test like?
The test has four sections:

  1. Reading & Use of English -75 minutes
  2. Writing – 2 essays, 80 minutes
  3. Listening – 40 minutes
  4. Speaking – interview, normally with another candidate, 14 minutes

Paper-based or computer-based exams
You can do the FCE exam on a computer or on paper.

A, B, C (pass), D, E or U (fail)
FCE A grade pass is accepted for entry to some universities

When can I take the test?
The FCE test can be taken most months in either paper-based or computer-based format. The paper-based test can be taken in March, May, June, August and December. The computer-based test can be taken in February, April, July, August and November. Not all test centres will administer both types of test.

How much does it cost to take FCE?
Fees are set by test centres. Expect to pay around €160 euros.

 

Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)

Difficulty level: C1 / advanced

Who is it for?
If you can communicate with confidence in English for work or study purposes, this is the exam for you. CAE is taken by more than 60,000 people each year in more than 60 countries.

CAE is one of the Cambridge exams.

What is the CAE test like?
The test has four sections:

  1. Reading & Use of English90 minutes
  2. Writing – 2 tasks , 90 minutes
  3. Listening – 40 minutes, 30 questions
  4. Speaking – interview, normally with another candidate, 15 minutes

Score
A, B, C (pass), D, E or U (fail)
CAE pass is accepted for entry to some universities.

The Reading and Use of English section counts for 40% of the marks.

The Writing, Listening & Speaking sections each count for 20% of the marks.

You will receive a Statement of Results. If your performance ranges between CEFR Levels B2 and C2, you will also receive a certificate.
Pass grades:
Grade A (C2), Grade B (C1), Grade C (C1)

If you do not pass, but still do reasonably well you are issued a B2 certificate.

Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)

Difficulty level: C2 / advanced

The Cambridge Proficiency exam is the hardest of the Cambridge exams.

Who is it for?
Do this test if you really love English. If you pass this test your English is good enough for you to teach English to others. Your English will be good enough to study at any British university. Over 45,000 people in more than 80 countries take the CPE exam each year.

What is the CPE test like?
The test has five sections:

  1. Reading – 4 parts, 90 minutes
  2. Composition – 2 tasks, 2 hours
  3. Use of English – 90 minutes
  4. Listening – 3 or 4 recordings, 40 minutes
  5. Interview – normally with another candidate, 15 minutes

A, B, C (pass), D, E or U (fail)
